Period 3 Integrated Science Blog Posting

Welcome back from vacation.

Now you have the opportunity to post your assignments using blogging. This is optional, because if you do not have access to the Internet, you will not be able to do this.

Please get access to the Internet. You will have to open an email account with Google, because you must identify yourself before you can blog. Google does not allow anonymous blogging. Therefore, please log on to Google mail and create an email account first. If you have difficulty, please write back.

The rules to input your assignment into blogs are the following:
1. Take notes from class lectures. Turn your notes in separately.
2. Identify each section by a section and topic heading.
3. Answer each question at the end of the section in complete sentences.
4. You may input graphics if you want to, for extra credits.

Good luck and God bless you.

Play Safe in the Internet Presentation

I spent the whole afternoon preparing Internet safety using the PowerPoint presentation. I also made a Lesson Plan. I would like to share my work with colleagues and teachers. I have never attached documents inside a blog. If I am successful, you will have it.

Well, I am sorry. I cannot find a place to attach my PowerPoint presentation or a Word document. I must find other means to do this.

Videostreaming

Videostreaming is another technique which students can input their viewpoints by using some video clips or video recordings. For simplicity, a good digital phone may record video clips. For more elaborate inputs, students can use a video camera to record short segments of science experiments, observations on some natural phenomena, and other unique events of newsworthy importance. They will then input their work into their blog.

Students will have tremendous opportunities to enhance their skills through video streaming and share their works with the learning community of the world.

Podcasting

Podcasting is a very useful tool for learning, especially the students with special needs such as learning disability. Podcasting involves the input of academic content using microphones and headphones. Students will draft their answers first on paper, so that they reduce repeat recordings and to save valuable Internet access time.

After they have drafted their assignments on paper, they may use a microphone and speak into the microphone and record their answers. It is a great way to learn.

Internet Safety

The Internet is an amazing tool. Yet, there are a lot of unwanted and inappropriate contents in it. As a teacher, I must educate my students to know how to surf the internet safely. In fact, I have been taking the iSafe class. I have gained a great deal of knowledge on Internet safety.

There are many sexual predators in the Internet. Students should be aware of them. Never disclose personal data such as name, address, phone number, age, driver license number, social security number, bank account information and other pertinent personal data in the Internet unless one knows the receiver, and the intention of the receiver.

There has been victims as a result of surfing in the Internet. Students must adhere to the rules of the school and the advice of parents and teachers.

Using Wiki's in the classroom

Wiki's are great ways to connect to people of the same mind around the world. We may post topics of any kind under the sun. People who are interested to talk about the same topic will post on it. Usually the topic will be so polished that it may become part of the largest encyclopedia of the world.

In my classes, I will ask my students to participate in this worldwide knowledge base, to be the world citizen of the truly international network.

Reflection on Web2.0

I have been taking this read/write web class for six weeks. It has been a most rewarding experience for me. I will teach my students to input their assignments by means of either blogging, podcasting, or videostreaming. I will also teach my students how to use the del.icio.us website to make bookmarks, how to aggregate good feeds, and how to be safe on the Internet.
